While much of the country has suffered through a drought this summer, South Florida appreciated its fair share of tropical rains. Nonetheless, the entryway to the Spelios Center in South Miami-Dade was “less than lush” … that is, until Coral Gables PALs arrived last Wednesday. The teen volunteers worked to dramatically improve the outdoor aesthetics for hundreds of individuals receiving services at the Adult Day Training Center. PAL volunteers planted shrubs, trees, hedges and hauled landscaping stones to create an urban oasis for people with intellectual disabilities and the dedicated staff who serve them.
We are extremely grateful for the generosity of Coral Gables’ Youth and the commitment to the community from the Coral Gables Police Athletic League leaders!
