Many of the opportunities people with disabilities experience today are the direct results of the efforts of Sunrise founding leaders as well as the individuals and families originally served by Sunrise in South Florida. In fact, a majority of Sunrise’s current leadership team, were each actively involved in influencing public policy and spearheading legal challenges that dramatically improved the lifestyles of individuals with intellectual and other disabilities over the past forty-five years as people have moved out of institutions and into their own homes or other community residences.
